Anti-racism and intersectionality inform every aspect of the DemocraShe program, from selection of participants and speakers to curriculum design.

Anti-Racism

Dismantling systemic racism is a guiding principle behind each and every part of the DemocraShe curriculum and program.

The work of anti-racism is critical to our future as a country, and every young woman who comes through DemocraShe takes on the fight of anti-racism as an inherent part of any fight for change she will embrace as an elected leader.

Intersectionality

Intersectional feminism is a movement recognizing that barriers to gender equality vary according to other aspects of a woman’s identity, including age, race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, immigration status, class and religion, and works to address a diverse spectrum of women’s issues.

DemocraShe strives to meet each girl where she is on this diverse spectrum, and help her find her own voice. We also seek to create leaders who recognize the different barriers each woman faces, and that to lift all women requires understanding these unique challenges.

Diversity is our strength. Through celebrating our diversity, we can reach our full potential as empowered and transformational voters, activists, and elected leaders.
